Scope & Content Bean Family Collection consists of photo albums of the Bean family from Marguerite Bean Murphy. Subjects include Venice Army Air Base, Bean Family members, Station Hospital during World War II (432 Armada Rd. S.), 1930s Venice, 1940s Venice, Venice-Nokomis High School.

Biographical information:
Floyd and Edna Bean came to Venice in September 1925. In the 1930s, he was the constable for the southern part of Sarasota County. They had three daughters, Marguerite, Gladys and Jean who all graduated from Venice-Nokomis High School. They built a 2-story building on East Venice Avenue where they operated a saloon, grocery store and rental rooms.
