Welcome to Venice : Replicas, imitations and dreams of an Italian city - This collection of vignettes was written and compiled by an Italian journalist and privately published by an Italian government body to illustrate how the original Venice has "exercised its fascination and influence in the most disparate places in the world." Its cover and subtitle were chosen to reflect its eclectic appeal or its 'leitmotif'. There are over one hundred places in the world named Venice. Venice, Florida and its world renowned 1920s city planner are highlighted in the author's introduction and this Venice's development was designed to "reflect the desire for urban utopia." John Nolen's General Plan for the City is given a double page spread. Included in the credits is the assistance given to the author by Dorothy Korwek and the Venice Archives and Area Historical Collection.
