Doorways-Potpourri Life History and Family History Writers of Venice, Florida 2010 Edition |
Summary |
Doorways Potpourri - This 2010 edition of the Doorways Potpourri contains short stories written by thirty-one of the group's members. There is in addition, a short section of recipes, and in another section several pictures of the group. A picture of the author is featured at the end of each story. There is a short biography of the author, as well. There are a variety of story types. The stories tell of hope and lives well lived. Four stories relate to health or very personal issues, but more importantly, about the courageous spirit of coping with what life sometimes throws at you. There are several stories about the simpler times of childhood and teen years, three stories are about boating adventures or golf, and two stories highlight friendships. Most of the stories tell of good, or comical memories. As often is the case when the group meets, one story stands out as leaving one with a glorious sense of "all's well with the world." The story that meets that criterion in this edition, is the one that tells about the flight home of a young man serving with the Special Security Forces near Baghdad. It is a Christmas story, yes, but also a story about mutual respect.
